Recuperative thermal oxidizers are relatively simple in concept but their design can often require significant technical know-how. An example is the thermal destruction of halogenated compounds. Design of the overall system, especially regarding the recuperator, or heat exchanger, can be particularly challenging. Because of the potential for both high temperature and low temperature corrosion, the materials of construction and operating conditions must be carefully chosen to avoid rapid corrosion and failure of the recuperator. In addition, even in the absence of halogens, recuperative thermal oxidizers are often called on to reach high levels of waste destruction and operate at temperatures in excess of 1600°F, which can lead to premature heat exchanger failure. Success with these difficult types of applications has made Systems the company you should trust with your most difficult applications.
