HMX Systems Private Limited, (Bengaluru, India), is a company that designs and manufactures IP based products for comfort conditioning projects. HMX was founded in 1998. It became a part of the A.T.E. Group in 2008, as the first clean tech venture of the A.T.E. Group.
HMX Systems executes eco-friendly projects for comfort conditioning. HMX's solutions are energy efficient, and provide significantly more fresh air to indoor spaces than do conventional air conditioners. This is the need of the hour with a changing demographic profile and user aspirations on one hand and the looming threats of climate change on the other.
The first of the innovative products that we have introduced has been the ‘Ambiator’. Ambiators are low cost, low carbon cooling technology products offering 100% fresh cool air, as an effective alternative to conventional air conditioning. Ambiators are especially relevant for large gathering places like IT parks, BPOs, offices, factories, halls, malls, multi-plexes, etc. (Reference about Ambiator available in UK FCO (UK Government) website www.climatesuccess.org).
‘Ambiators’ offer thermal comfort with fresh air, and also save on energy. There is a huge saving potential in energy - about 60% over conventional air conditioners. Hence, Ambiators also contribute in reducing global warming, and thus mitigating climate change. Furthermore, they use no ozone depleting chemicals.
Ambiators use IDEC (indirect and direct evaporative cooling) technology. This is a two stage evaporative cooling system, deploying sensible cooling without moisture addition in the 1st stage, and evaporative cooling in the 2nd stage.
Our products are evaluated by The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) jointly with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GTZ) and Energy Management Centre under Ministry of Power, Government of India.
For areas of high humidity near coastal areas, we are working on Ambiators that could be combined with conventional chillers or direct expansion cooling coils as hybrid air-conditioners. Hybrids can enhance the applicability of IDEC systems to more humid conditions, while still providing significant power saving.
The commitment of HMX Systems to innovative, energy efficient and eco-friendly products has been recognized by several awards., HMX was a winner at the “Investor Forum” held in November 2006, by New Ventures India, under the aegis of the World Resources Institute. The award was instituted to recognise and encourage the country's most promising sustainable businesses in high-growth green sectors such as clean technology and organic agriculture. The company was also nominated for “World Clean Energy Awards” under the products category, at New York in May 2007.
