In the wake of new laws pertaining to energy conservation and the use of ‘Green’ building materials, the construction industry in the country is undergoing a major transition. Now an increasing number of construction houses have started moving to more eco friendly materials for infrastructure development. The concept of Green buildings will become synonymous with the infrastructure development since Green buildings use eco-friendly technology to reduce the consumption of electricity, water and other natural resources and minimize the impact of the building on the local environment. The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has estimated that by 2010, the space available in commercial buildings in India could go up to 100 million sq. ft.
Understanding the importance of green buildings and the role to be played by them in the future, we now come to Tejas Foundation – a newly set up company manufacturing construction material, which from its inception is getting into this concept. With complete focus on forging ahead with this new concept, Tejas aims at being the catalyst in the transition that is currently happening in the industry. Currently they are involved in the designing and manufacturing of a unique construction material called TEJAS eco S.A.F.E panels. This is also known as Eco panels or Tridi panels in other parts of the world. This is a concept which has already captivated and transformed the European and American construction markets.
