Madison Co. to hold hazardous waste collection day

MARYVILLE - Madison County will sponsor a free household hazardous waste collection on May 22 at the Maryville Community Library, 8 Schiber Court, just off Illinois Route 162. The collection is limited to Madison County residents and no business or contractor waste will be accepted.

Items that will be accepted for recycling include herbicides, pesticides, oil and latex paints, batteries, fluorescent lights, antifreeze, motor oil, medications and pool chemicals. Tires, biomedical waste, large appliances, fire extinguishers, agricultural waste, propane tanks, electronics, explosives and fireworks will not be accepted.
