BIJAPUR: Assistant commissioner Y S Patil has cautioned the people of Krishna River belt area in the district against using the river water for any purpose, due to water pollution near Karad in Maharashtra on Thursday.
Precautionary measures like creating awareness and publicity about the water have been taken up in nearly 45 villages of the district coming under the river belt area.
Talking to `TOI' Patil said, the ratio of pollution will decrease when it reaches the district border on Friday night.
Due to wide publicity in the river belt area, villagers are aware of the situation and are not using the water for any purpose. Farmers also have been instructed not to use the water to irrigate their fields.
The situation is now under full control and all necessary precautions have taken by the district administration to tackle the situation, said Patil.
