Pioneers In E-waste Recycling In India: Attero Recycling

Company Name : Generic Source : EFY Times

Attero Recycling as a pioneer in e waste recycling in India is a unique endeavor in clean technology and a remarkable contribution to the green and clean environment movement.

Investors: Attero Recycling is funded by NEA-IndoUS Ventures - a leading venture capital firm which provides early and mid-stage funding to new or growing businesses in India and Draper Fisher Jurvetson – a pre-eminent venture capital firm with global presence.

Recent Development: Attero has attracted Rs. 15 crore in the series B fund raising exercise. Granite Hill Capital Ventures LLC, an investment and advisory partnership led this round with the fund promoted by Dr. Shailesh J. Mehta, Managing General Partner

After successfully commissioning the metal extraction unit at Roorkee, Attero plans to expand the existing capacity to process most of the mixed metal e-waste generated in India. Attero is also working on extending its existing technology to recycle other metals bearing hazardous waste for which there is currently no technology or process available in India.

A snapshot of Attero’s operations: Having set up the first end to end recycling plant in India which has complete environmental management systems in place approved by the Ministry of Environment & Forests & Central Pollution Control Board & TUV (ISO Auditors), Attero has also set up a plastic to fuel conversion plant for utilizing non-recyclable plastic present in E-waste. Attero is also credited to be the first and only company to undertake precious metal refining. The company has taken up the challenge of developing an alternate source of metals. After working on the process for more than two years, Attero successfully developed India’s first technology for extracting metals from e-waste, thus joining the league of the handful of companies worldwide with this technology

Integrated end-to-end electronic waste (e-waste) recycling and ethical e-waste management is now well recognized as the only way to deal with e-waste that is extremely hazardous to the environment. Attero collects e-waste in covered vehicles from the point of origin and transports it to their state-of-the-art facility at Roorkee in Uttarkhand. Workers are provided protective gear for manual segregation & dismantling of e-waste. Attero has an excellent recycling efficiency and as a result, none of the toxins are exposed to the environment. Attero is the only e-waste recycler providing end-to-end recycling of the e-waste with zero landfill.
