As part of center’s rooftop PV & small solar generation programme, the Rajasthan government is planning to set up 20 photovoltaic-based small solar plants of 1 mw each in the state. These projects are likely to attract an investment of Rs 350 crore over three years, The state government nodal agency for green energy Rajasthan renewable Energy Corporation has identified 20 sites of 10 acre each in solar exposed districts of jodhpur,jaisalmer,barmer,nagpur,pali and sirohi for the projects.
A part form that, it has also reserved 10 additional site of 1 MW each if the center decides to allocate more than 20 mw to the state under this programme. “We have invited expression of interest from 45 power companies for these projects. Projects have to be completed by 2013 which would then be companies for these projects.” Projects have to be completed by 2013 which would then be connected at voltage levels below 33 KV.”Said RREC executive director MM vijayvargiya. The state government so far has received proposals for settings up solar power plants worth 8,400 mw.
If these projects see the light of day, it would attract an investment of over 1.30 lakh crore in the state. Power companies like Reliance Industries Limited, par solar, Jindal Power, GVK Power and infrastructure Limited, Moser Baer photovoltaic Limited and Zoom Developers among others have registered with RREC for these projects. The state government has already sanctioned projects worth 66 mw distributed between 11 companies. These plants will be based on different technologies like solar photo-voltaic, solar thermal and thin film etc.
