Jammu, Jan 20 (PTI) Set to focus on security of environment and climate in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre will give Rs 90 crore to the state to execute a World Bank-aided project on climate change and environment security.
"The Centre has agreed to provide Rs 90 crore for execution of World Bank-aided project on climate change and environment security," Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmad said.
Altaf, who met Union Minister for Environment and Forest Jairam Ramesh recently, said that an amount of Rs 100 crore as a one-time special grant has also been asked from the Centre for rehabilitation of the degraded forests.
Ramesh appreciated the idea and asked the state to submit a proposal for the same, he said.
The state government has constituted Wullar Development Authority (WDA) for which an amount of Rs 120 crore have been earmarked in the 13th Finance Commission, he said.
